Okay a lot is going on in this oldie but a goodie. We have ghost orbs floating around(at least 2)!! We have a pretty sweet mustache going. A rad suit that was worn later at my wedding by Chris Ebling. Pretty sweet pair of Nike SB Dunks. And the gem is the Obama/Biden sign that we used as a door on shanty town(shanty town blog coming soon).

I get a lot of questions about JUMA. I wish I had an good answer but I am guessing that they decided to do something else heck I know how it feels I have been through it with Mediocre for sure. But I do miss Matt and Justin. If you guys see this give me a call!

This was for sure a rad night out on the town. Tupac shirt, white pants, and some sweet Nike SB Mid Dunks. It was a rad night. I need to dress up more often….I think this was before they called it “swag”.

Anchor Blue! I miss all the old Anchor Blue Homies we had some pretty sweet times. This was the trip our store took to Six Flags (fuck Six Flags) when we won the Jansport backpack contest! I really think that was one of my all time favorite jobs!

I am not sure if you guys know this guy Corey “Big Red” Ruslink. But he is for real and he is back in Texas and he is serious about skateboarding. You will see this guy on here a whole lot and probably doing hard tricks.

So I wanted to write a series of blogs about my mustache, the things that happen to my mustache, and the things that make a mustache. My inspiration for Part 1: The Questions?? actually comes from two friends of mine that have grow equally awesome mustaches or moustaches. I have gotten two recent emails from them asking how I feel about the reactions that I get from the general public.

Now I am an “attention whore”!! So I might be a little more intense then regular people. I love it when people freak out on my mustache. I answer questions at work, in the line at subway, at The Pier, walking to my car in the parking lot, chilling with my wife at Medieval Times, or going to Daddy/Daughter lunch day at school. Now I decided to discuss my Top 4 Questions all time. These Top 4 Questions are the ones that I get the most all time.

#4: Can I touch your Mustache? I know what your thinking…..weird. But it really is the fourth most often asked question. Now this is probably the most physical/intrusive question. But it would probably be my favorite if I was single. I mean about 75% of the time it is a group of teenage girls giggling and daring each other to touch it. 10% of the time it is a single daring lady. The next 10% are children. You know kids love sketchy, mustached, strangers! And the final 5% are random dudes. Now I know what your thinking dam that is weird and mildly gay. But when it comes to the huge responsibility of having a large manly mustache you have to give up some of your personal space.

#3: Can I take a picture of your mustache/with you and your mustache? Now this one some people find kind of ridiculous or hard to believe. But it is super crazy and honestly happens a freaking ton. If you don’t believe me all you have to do is hang out with me and sure as the sun will rise that shit will go down. Now the picture thing is a pretty even mix of ladies and gentlemen. My co-workers, my wife, children, friends, and strangers have seen this go down and it always makes them laugh. I have had girls walk up to my wife to ask if its okay if they take a picture with me. My wife is a for real trooper when it comes to my “Mustache Groupies” (That’s another blog!). I have been recognized off of strangers Facebooks.

“Hey you know my friend, Stacy!” Stranger

“Stacy? I don’t think so.” Me

“No your on her Facebook. She is a tall blonde.” Stranger

“Oh ya.” Me (Still no clue who she is?)

#2: How do you get your Mustache to do that? The last two most popular questions to me seem the silliest! I mean really “How do you get your Mustache to do that?” Well number one I don’t shave it. That is the trick. Now Guys ask me this the most and usually follow it with “I can’t make mine do that.”. I think that 90% of guys are a little jealous and intimidated by a man with a “real” mustache. Every man wants a mustache but they tend to let women, jobs, moms, family, and friends push them around. So for all the guys out there looking to ask me this question let me break it down for you.

1. Don’t shave. And when I say don’t shave I mean for at least 3 months.

2. Don’t be afraid of a little hair in your mouth.

3. Get some Clubman Mustache Wax!

4. Don’t get frustrated. It takes some practice with the wax.

5. If you take on the man Mustache you will then have to answer these same questions!

#1: Is your Mustache real? I know what your thinking “REALLY!”. And yes this is really the question I get seriously more then 10 times a day. Now the thing I find to be most hilarious about this question is the idea of a guy that wakes every morning a half hour early to apply a fake mustache so he can draw a large amount of attention from the people he meets throughout the day while he struggles to convince them that it is real. I hope that someday I can run into “fake mustache guy”. I am not sure what I would do. Maybe fight him, maybe rip off his mustache, or maybe just laugh and cry at the same time. All I say to the is it real question is “yes”. Sometimes I tug on it just to prove that it ain’t coming off. Then I pose for the picture, tell them how they or their boyfriend can grow one, and let them touch it.

This blog might help you make the decision to grow such a real mustache. It might convince you that you should let your man grow one. It might even convince you to stop wearing that fake one to work everyday. Mustaches will come and they will go but when you have a super good mustache the questions will never end.

These little girls have brought a lot of joy into our lives! And they look pretty darn cute with some sweet mustache shirts on!

I am sure a few of you heard about Mediocre Skateboards and in turn you probably heard that after about half a year we closed shop. A lot of people had opinions about that they ranged from people bummed, sad, upset, people who said it was cause I was lazy, and people who didn’t seem to notice. It wasn’t an easy thing to start or an easy thing to stop.

First off I do want to say thanks to all the people that bought our boards and supported the cause. Also a super big thanks to The Shop in Oak Cliff, Flatspot, The Rec Shop, and The Pier for supporting being Mediocre! I had one hell of a time sponsoring different events and sharing my love of skateboarding through Mediocre Skateboards. Who doesn’t skateboard and dream of owning their own piece of the skateboard pie. I got to live the dream and I mean really live the dream. Checking e-mails, watching sponsor me tapes, filming, and posting on Facebook! I learned a lot while on my adventure in dream land.

Now I am getting off track. Ever since we decided to shut down the operations I have been having second thoughts. I had a partner that was even busier then me and we just couldn’t seem to ever be on the same page. I was struggling to try and build something from nothing. Mediocre was always more about a feeling then really a serious skateboard company. When we started Mediocre we were at a moment in our lives when we could all laugh at skateboarding. We had a big crew always down to skate and film. We had an even bigger group of friends that thought it was a pretty sweet idea. Now with this most recent endeavor we did not have the same circle of friends. And I really think that anything you start from the ground up you have to have friends that are in it just to help out. Not people looking for free boards, or money, or fame, or superstardom, or anything else. Just some people who want to see you succeed purely cause of a friendship you share. Now we just didn’t get the right mix. We had people excited and we had people down for the cause. Maybe it was me. I mean it has been like 8 years since Mediocre was together living the dream. When you are in your mid 30′s with 5 kids and a Wife things can change.

I am sitting here in my bedroom while my wife watches Priest (decent film) and all I can think about is skateboarding, friends, and Mediocre. So maybe it deserves a second, second chance. Maybe I can do what needs to be done. I will need a copy of final cut pro and a firewire for my camera. I will need to order some more stickers cause who doesn’t love stickers. Well I do have a surprise I was lucky enough to talk my buddy Matt at Red Sea Tattoo into making these.

I can’t just walk away from stuff this sweet! So just for the record we are still going to do some cool stuff with Mediocre. We are going to start small using these custom screens to print up some wild shirts, sweatshirts, boards, and custom art work for all the people who still believe in us. And maybe, just maybe we can rebuild what was once so freaking awesome. Long Live Mediocre! (or maybe we will just quit next week)

I just get all side tracked. I mean I love TheMostMediocre! I have burned it down, started over, been serious, and been silly.

Now I am bald mostly cause I hate my grey hair and have a fantasy of head tattoos! But what does the future hold? Maybe more grey hair, babies, skateboards, and hopefully more blogs.

Working on the dream of promoting, owning, and selling skateboards can turn a dream into a nightmare. Mediocre Skateboards is just about skateboarding mixed with a little messing around. I will always be far from rich and always too close to poor. I still ride my skateboard and sell these decks cause it makes me smile.
